THE SKLAROFF LAW FIRM

Jeffrey began his career as a litigation associate at the law firm of Paul Weiss Rifkind Wharton & Garrison. From there, he accepted a position as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Criminal Division of the Southern District of New York where he prosecuted a wide array of federal crimes at the investigation, trial and appellate stages. He then joined the international law firm of Greenberg Traurig LLP where he was a principal partner handling a wide range of civil and criminal matters. In 2019, he became a partner in the boutique criminal defense firm of Mukasey Frenchman & Sklaroff LLP and is now continuing his practice in his own firm.

Throughout his career, Jeff has represented corporations and executives at every stage of a criminal case – from grand jury investigations through trial and on appeal. Jeff is also an experienced civil trial lawyer and has conducted internal investigations for clients both domestically and overseas.

Jeff has been selected by multiple federal judges to serve as a receiver in complex civil cases and SEC enforcement actions. He was also appointed by the Chief Judge of the State of New York to serve as Counsel to the Grand Jury Project, a committee of judges, law professors, prosecutors and defense lawyers charged with developing recommendations to improve the grand jury system in New York.

He previously served as an adjunct member of the New York State Justice Task Force examining the causes of wrongful convictions and making recommendations for changes to the criminal justice system in New York. He also served as a member of the Federal Criminal Practice Committee of the Federal Bar Council from 2013-2023. Jeff served as counsel to a prominent group of former federal judges and prosecutors acting as amici curiae in a widely-reported case attacking the constitutionality of mandatory minimum prison sentences.
